More about X-Ray
-
At Icon Chiropractic, we practice Gonstead method exclusively which focuses on specific adjustments. It is very important to visually see the biomechanics of your spine before doing an adjustment. For this reason, x-ray is an essential part of the analysis to fully understand the root cause of your issue.
-
The amount of radiation you're exposed to during an x-ray depends on the tissue or organ being examined. Sensitivity to the radiation depends on your age, with children being more sensitive than adults. Generally, however, radiation exposure from an x-ray is low, and the benefits from these tests far outweigh the risks. You get more exposure to radiation in an air travel than you do from front taking x-rays.
-
We will look at them but generally, x-rays from medical doctor's will not show the proper biomechanics of the spine that we need to see to adjust.
-
It depends on when and how the x-rays were taken. If the x-rays were taking in sections and/or more than one year ago then our policy is to take updated x-rays for accurate assessment.
-
Yes! We would like to see them and the more information we have, the better assessment we can make for your care.
-
Yes, we will still need to take x-rays. MRIs look at soft tissue such as muscles. We need to see the hard tissue such as your bone structure.
-
In our office, we do NOT take s-rays if you are pregnant. If you are pregnant or suspect that you may be pregnant, tell your doctor before having an x-ray. Though the risk of most diagnostic x-rays to an unborn baby is small, your doctor may consider another imaging test, such as ultrasound.
